Who are the owners and makers behind The Rooted Baby Co.?
We are a family run business! My name is Alfreda Abena (wife and mother) and am the designer and seamstress behind all the items. My husband helps with shipping your orders and little Noah Kofi is the "shop assistant". You can often find him stuffing boxes with tissue paper as I answer emails and list products. What are your hours of operation?
Customer service hours are open Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm, Saturday 10am - 2pm EST. We are closed on Sundays.

Product Information:

What materials are your products made from?
We have a variety of items. Any African print is 100% Ankara sourced directly from Ghana, West Africa. The mealtime collection is FDA approved BPA and toxin-free food grade silicone and the swaddles and burp cloths are bamboo cotton. All items are CPSC Safety Certified and made to be safe for your child and multifunctional for you.

I ordered multiple of the same item/pattern, why don't they all look the same?

Due to the vibrant pattern of each Ankara fabric, no two items will be exactly alike. This is due to pattern placement when creating your piece. Also, the swaddles are made in small batches and will slightly vary in shade with each batch. 

How do I take care of my pieces?
For all fabric items, hand or machine wash in cold water.  Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry. If you wish to iron the fabric, make sure there is a barrier between the Ankara fabric and the low-medium heat iron, such as a towel. Make sure the bibs are unsnapped to relieve tension around the snaps - this will make them last longer. All of our items come with care instructions on the labels but you can also find them on the product page.

What's an "Oops Imperfect" item?
Occasionally, we might sell some imperfect items at a deeply discounted price. These items might have slight flaws but still function as intended. These products will be marked as such and sold as is.

What is the turnaround time for my order?
The turnaround time is 3-5 business days on all orders.

How will I know if you restock an item?
You can be notified one of two ways (or both)! You can sign up for our monthly newsletter. You will receive information on new arrivals, restocks, discount codes, secret sales, and more! Or you can go to the product page, fill in your email, and click "Notify me when this product is available." Once the item is restocked, you will receive an e-mail. 

Can I request a custom order?
Custom orders are not available at this time. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to receive news about future items and our growing shop!

Can I cancel my order?

If for some reason, you need to cancel your order, please do so by contacting hello@rootedbabyco.com within the first 24 hours after placing your order before it has been marked fulfilled/shipped. Please make the subject line "Cancel Order # ***". Use the order number given to you upon purchase confirmation.


Shipping Information:

How often do you ship?
Orders go out every Saturday. We will still ship during the week but the official day is once a week on Saturday. This shipping schedule still adheres to the 3-5 day process. Once the order is complete, it will be shipped out on the next business day. Example: If you order a gift box on Tuesday, it will be completed by Friday (3 days). Then, your order gets shipped out on Saturday.

How long will it take for me to get my order?

Please estimate to receive your order at least 7-10 business days after ordering. Business days are considered Monday - Friday even though shipping carriers may deliver packages on the weekend. *Please Note: International shipments may take longer. 

Can I have my order rushed?
Yes, you can! If you need a rush order, please make sure to add this listing to your cart: RUSH SHIPPING. There will be an additional fee of $10 for rush orders. Your order will take 1-2 business days to fulfill instead of the normal 3-5 business days. 

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do! However, for all international orders, as the buyer, you are responsible for any customs or country charges. These items will not be marked as gifts. If you are unsure of any amount of additional charges your customs might impose, please contact the proper entity in your country. 

What if my package arrived damaged?
Our items go through a quality inspection before we ship your order. If for some reason, your item arrives damaged by the carrier, please contact the carrier to open a case first. Then, contact us at hello@rootedbabyco.com with pictures and the case number within 1 day of delivery so we may be of further assistance. After that period, we are unable to assist in your request. Use the subject line: "Damaged Order # *****". Use the order number given to you upon purchase confirmation.

My package was supposed to be delivered today/yesterday, but I don't have it. It might be lost. What do I do?
All orders will be shipped out with a tracking number. Once the package has been given to the carrier, we are no longer responsible for the length of shipping time and status of the package. Please contact the carrier directly to resolve this issue and to open a case first. Allow at least 1-2 business days after your original delivery date to receive your package. Often times, "lost" packages will arrive a little later than expected. We are not responsible for lost packages but after your initial contact with the carrier, will try to help you locate one when necessary. We will go through the designated process to make sure you receive your package. If this occurs, please contact us at hello@rootedbabyco.com with the subject line "Lost Package Order # *****". Please provide the case number from the carrier and the order number given to you upon purchase confirmation. 


Returns and Exchanges:

Due to the hygienic and health nature of our products, returns and exchanges are not accepted. 
 

Safety Information:

Silicone Bibs and Bowls - These items are made form 100% food grade silicone, made with CPSIA Certified material, and are free from BPA, lead, and other toxins. Bibs are created and secured with adjustable buttons. Test on your child for comfort at each use. Discontinue use when the child grows out of it and the bib gets too small or tight around the child's neck. Never leave a child unattended with the bib still on. Never allow the child to fall asleep while still wearing a bib. 

Rattles and Teethers - These items are made from 100% food grade silicone and/or 100% Canadian Maple or Beechwood. Silicone is CSPC/CPSIA and FDA approved to be free from the following toxins:

    • BPA Free
    • Lead Free
    • Latex Free
    • PVC Free
    • Mercury Free
    • Phthalates Free
All wood beads and wood teething items/toys are made from 100% Canadian maple wood directly from Canada or natural Beechwood. Both are naturally chemical free, antibacterial, non-splintering, and durable. All of our wood is pretreated with 100% organic virgin coconut oil to provide an extra layer of antifungal and antibacterial protection for your teething baby. If your child is allergic to coconut or coconut oil, please leave a note in checkout for us to leave the wood parts untreated.

*Supervision* - Bibs, rattles, and teethers are not toys. Items will go through normal wear and tear with regular normal use. Inspect and test before every use and discard if damaged. Do not leave tied around a child's neck for a prolonged period of time and never allow a child to use while sleeping. Some items contain small parts.
